Apple's iPhone XR has been delayed until October 19, due to problems with the LCD screen

Apple has released three new iPhone models this year, two of which have been pre-sold. Now the iPhone XR has been delayed to October 19 due to capacity problems.

The iPhone XR USES the same screen design as the iPhone XS, except that it's an LCD model. In the past, it has been reported that sophisticated LCD screens with bangs have caused production problems for suppliers. A new report today reaffirms that.

The report noted that LCD panels can't bend like OLED panels, which poses a particular challenge to mass production of the iPhone XR. Specifically, the iPhone XR's slot leaks have been a problem. Orders for the LCD panel for the model will be made jointly by LG and JDI, and at least one of the two companies is unable to meet production targets.

Analyst Katy Huberty mentioned The issue as early as July, while Ryan Reith, vice President of mobile device research at IDC, told The Verge in a phone interview today that apple has had to adjust The LCD screen with software that improves visual effects and lets manufacturers cut The material into toothy shapes.
